No, I don’t use Drupal for my blog platform, I use Wordpress.
I know, all of the die hard drupalers out there are yelling at the screen, “But Drupal has a great blog platform you dummy!” And it is true, it has a great blog platform, just not the best blog platform.
But, to hack Shakespear, I come to praise Drupal not bury it.
Drupal is used on two of my sites. The first REITactics is a great resource for investors to get some really great information and tools. One of with is the Real Estate Investment Profitability Predictor (RIPP). It is used by thousands of people to analyze an income producing property. REITactics is also a marketing and eCommerce site and Drupal supports that well too.
The other site that uses Drupal is the Real Estate Field Guide™. That is a membership site with lots of information targeted to serious real estate investors. It in tightly integrated with the REITactics site and supports single signon support between them. If you log into one and goto the other the login session is transferred and you don’t have to do a separate login. The Field Guide supports a layered concept of learning so the members can find what the want quickly but dive into the depths when they need to. It also supports a discussion forum where questions are asked and answers received in a fairly well vetted environment. Everyone behind the site tries hard to live up to its motto, “No Hype and Jargon Free”.
So, I am a Drupal believer. It does lots of things very well and so even this morning after the IT guys applied the latest updates to the various modules and the times on the discussion forum posts are now wrong I still think Drupal Rocks!
