Now, Congress is the Only Thing Standing Between The Consumer and US Oil

A month ago I said President Bush should take the lead in allowing domestic oil exploration off the US coastal waters. Today he did just that.

Today, President Bush signed an executive order reversing one signed by his father and extended by Bill Clinton prohibiting oil exploration and recovery in domestic waters off the US coasts.

Now, the US Congress is the only thing standing in the way of our ability to reduce our dependence on foreign oil.

Many would have you believe it will take over 10 years to see the first drop of oil from these sources.

But the experts say it could be as little as one year.

Congress needs to get off the stick and allow domestic oil sources to be used. There is no reason we can’t exploit our own oil resources while we also explore alternative energy sources.

Finally, the President chose a leadership position in this area.

If you think we need to use our own resources, like I do, you must contact your Congressman and Senators to get them moving. If you think we should continue to send hundreds of millions of dollars overseas, often to our enemies, then contact your Congressman and Senators and tell them to continue to obstruct our ability to be energey independent.
