GAS CRISIS!
That is the title of a junk mail piece I received today. Yes, I typically throw away junk mail, but this one caught my attention and not for the reason its producers intended.
This junk mail piece is hawking a Canadian OTC stock that was trading at ten cents a few weeks ago. This junk mail piece breathlessly exclaims it is going to $30 in the short-term.
The piece also exclaims..
“With this technology the planet could reduce its dependence on oil by 1 BILLION Barrels per year!”
Sounds like a lot doesn’t it? It is about 2.7% or ten days of world oil consumption.
The thing that caught my attention is this, if this technology is as good as it claims, there would be no need to send out junk mail pieces soliciting people to buy the stock. According to the disclaimer in the junk mail piece, the company hawking this stock, Green First Capital, spent $3,785,000.00 on this campaign. Which, to me was an incredibly interesting number when I actually dug into the details of this stock.
There is a profit motive here and in my opinion, it has more to do with trying to drive the price of this penny stock up than it does with technological advances
The stock symbol is HYHY and I will leave it to you to do your own due diligence but personally, I am not interested.
It will be interesting to see what, if any, follow-on pieces arrive in the mail in the future for this stock and for other stocks on behalf of Green First Capital.
UPDATE: There is an extensive write up on this scheme at The Motley Fool.
