Either he:
1) ….really believed the story his relative(s) told him.
2) ….is not a history buff.
3) ….is a storyteller.
But, one thing is clear: he isn’t a very bright guy.
Judging by his recent performances, I think he suffers from the same affliction Hillary does. He embellishes partially true stories and makes things up from whole cloth.
Remember when Hillary said she was named for Sir Edmund Hillary? Turned out to be totally bogus. Sir Hillary reached his fame well after she was born and named.
