Why Can’t People See This? Oh Yeah, Government Education.

The No. 1 economic threat facing the United States today isn’t globalization, stagnant wages, unfair trade policy or illegal immigration. And it certainly isn’t what one cable TV demagogue glibly calls a “war on the middle class” by big media, big corporations and big special interests.

Rather, it’s the sense of entitlement that many Americans take with them into the workplace and the eagerness with which they shift the blame when things don’t go according to plan.

The key is to never to take responsibility for the personal decisions you’ve made. Eventually, some opportunistic politician will come along and confirm what you’ve always suspected — that you are at the mercy of forces beyond your control.

  1. I am more than a little offended with your attitude toward public schools. They provide a valuable service and have been educating our nations children for several generations. You probably did the flight thing to a private school with your kids to prevent having to rub shoulders with the undesirables at the local public school.

Besides, the biggest problem we have isn’t economic it is parental interferrance in the schools. The parents should stay the heck out of the classroom and let the teachers do their job.

Parental interference? They should interfere if the teachers/principals are not doing their jobs! Parents and educators should be working together! No parents should EVER give up control. It is the parents’ responsibilities to ensure that their children are safe and well taught at home and school.

My public schools stink big time. Extremely poor report cards. I choose to send my children to private school (Lutheran) because they are more than willing to work with parents to ensure our children excel to the best of their abilities. Can not say the same about public schools.

  3. Gary, they are government schools. They are owned by the government, run by the government and staffed with government employees.

But, I am more interested in your “interference” comment. I personally think it is my responsibility to educate my son regardless of any government mandate for education. I’m one of “those” types who would educate my child even if it weren’t required.

The problems we have in the schools now are not because the parents are involved too much it is because they aren’t involved enough.

Gary, are you a government paid teacher?
