Politics and Investing

I have taken some heat for my post from a couple of days ago. So, I think a little clarification might be in order.

I am not trying to affect political change with my writings here. I am trying to affect financial change, one person at a time.

Does politics affect investing? Absolutely! But, I decided many years ago not to pursue any type of political career.

Sure, I toyed with the idea. In college I even talked about running for office. But, the politics in this country today is not about anything but getting reelected and amassing more power. It is disgusting at all levels.

You don’t like my political views? That’s fine. I may not like yours. But, so what? You aren’t reading an investing blog to gain unique insight into the politics of our time or the candidates of the next election.

The only political action you are likely to see me call for is related to the Fair Tax and Constitutional issues.

Immigration? It is easy to solve once the people make it abundantly clear to the politicians they want it fixed.

Taxes? The Fair Tax is the answer to any and every issue related to that.

Corrupt Political Power? Again, check out the Fair Tax.

I could go on but to be honest I don’t care to do so.

It is very unlikely anything I write here will change a political position with anyone or anywhere.

And that suits me just fine.

  1. Politic and Real Estate holding hands simply never occurred to me, Tim until you wrote.

I sincerely hope my previous post was not considered as part of the heat because it was not meant to be other than my opinion.
    If it was, I apologize.

  2. Nope, not at all, Debbie.

But, my Skype voicemail box was so full I decided to just drop the voicemail service AND the links here to contact me via skype. After listening to parts of the first five or so I decided it was pointless. They were mostly from moonbat types like Cindy Sheehan.
