Yesterday was a slow day. I had lots of free time on my hands because my wife is on some heavy duty narcotics for pain and I needed to be close by in case she needed me but I wanted her to sleep so not too close by. Anyway with time on my hands I started looking at the Casey Obsessors from a different perspective.

I don’t know why I got the wild notion to do it. There are plenty of other more productive things I could’ve done but some times you just have to go with the flow of seemingly unconnected thoughts.

I went to the usual Caseyland soap opera drama sites, Casey’s, exurbannation, etc and happened upon a post comment pointing to a really new site set up by the haterz to talk about the Casey soap opera. But, it required registration so I passed. Hey, I was bored but not that bored. So, I kept reading and a few comments kept mentioning this new site, over and over again.

Okay, time to hop onto hotmail, get a throwaway email address and fire up Tor.

I was blown away with what I found. The site is maybe a couple of weeks old and there were almost 9000 posts in the Casey discussion section alone. The posters there are very active.

But, one thread caught my attention. It was about a deal for Casey to sell his blog. Apparently, things did not go as planned and the buyer was hopping mad. One thing led to another and an ‘emergency talkcast’ was called. I didn’t find it in time to listen to it live, but my curiosity was peaked so I listened to the recording.

Casey called in and he and the buyer had a short series of swipes at each other.

I began to understand why Casey ticks people off.

Casey has a very unusual speaking style and his interaction with people is irritating. I had the bright idea to maybe listen to some of the other recorded talkcasts Casey hosted but I couldn’t get through even one.

I fully understand now why he has such an audience of haterz! LOL! He cultivates them!

As I said before, to me Casey is just another failed get rich quick wannabe. But, after listening to his interaction with his callers and reading some of his earlier (months ago) interaction with the people commenting on his blog I can see he would be a great examination into the psychology of human interaction. As many have noted, Casey appears to be passive-aggressive, at least in his public persona. And he is very good at it. So good he can apparently frustrate just about anyone he personally interacts with in any way. Once he ticked off a few of the more die-hard types it didn’t take long for a tipping point to happen with the future haterz commiserating about their Casey experience and feeding off of each other.

So, looking at the psychology involved I have a much better understanding of the Casey Haterz™ and I feel I owe them an apology. They are responding to their frustrations in dealing with someone very adept at public passive-aggressive behavior. Granted, they could walk away but as anyone familiar with the stories from Uncle Remus, it just isn’t human nature to do that.

Casey is the perfect example of the Tar Baby and the haterz are playing the part of Br’er Rabbit.

So, with the passing of my boredom and the realization that Casey is the Tar Baby I am going offer my apology to the haterz™ and remind them the only way to disengage is to just walk away. Otherwise, you might find yourself stuck to that tar baby.
