I Have No Intention of Turning This into an anti-HousingPanic blog, but…
I have received a flood of emails from the contact pages where I offered those who really believe what Keith Brand at housingpanic.com spouts a way out of their pain.
Some have been details about houses they want to sell but the others have been really amazing sometimes.
Since I have spam controls in place here it is really hard for them to post comments with their vitriol and that makes them even more frustrated.
But, one email really caught my attention.
See, I have a theory about Keith’s motivation in creating housingpanic.com and much of the email I received today confirms most of my theory. I have not expressed that theory to anyone so it is impossible someone is telling me what they think I want to hear. Also, many of the small details checkout.
I’m not going to post the contents of this email, yet. I want to check out as many of the facts presented in it as possible and I am going to dig into the sender as well. FWIW, it is very hard to really be anonymous on the internet and I’m pretty sure I have the emailer tracked down but there are a couple more dots to connect.
There is one piece of confirmed factual data. Keith is a renter in Tempe, AZ. So, it’s not like he’s berating others while owning real estate himself

Eagerly awaiting an update on this. Man…humans are amazing. They are so predictable. Sort of make me want to start my own cult…but then I think better of myself.
It is my opinion that Keith Brand is just a left wing liberal wanna be politician who wants to spread misery. Just look at his consulting company for clues.

The guy is a former employee of 76/circle K convenience stores, based in Tempe Az. His name is Keith Brand, and he was the category marketing clown for the “non grocery/non gas” category. Stuff like gift cards, and pay-as-you-go cell phones.
A divorced and bitter 40 year old, with a Political Science degree which was followed by a failed political science career. He worked briefly for the Dukakis campaign back in 92 and was fired. He was a “dress buyer” for Nordstrom for a while after that, then sold POS terminals “door to door” to businesses in AZ. He was hired by CA (comp. associates) and after about a year there went to Circle K.
After about 4 months of marriage, he got divorced, sold a house in AZ for break-even, which in 2000 is sad considering how they were going up. He then rented from 01 to 03 and bought a Tempe “loft”. Overpriced and small. He was laid off from Circle K, sold the loft for a modest profit and then left the country to start a small company that I suspect failed (called Tiefesto or something like that. Unbanked card services?). He then started this blog that routinely rails against you and a few others about your “calls” on the housing sector.
I would not want you to think he is some guru or insider or economist. He is just a really angry vindictive hack who loves predicting catastrophe, calamity, and calls for all out Armageddon in the housing sector. I have never figured out why he gets hung up on these things and suspect that he has an agenda.
I just thought since he is bad-mouthing you so routinely, that you should know a thing or to about him.

Speaking of village idiots, it would seem that Tempe AZ should collect theirs from the UK.

in 2005 shortly after relocating to the UK, he was predicting that the “bubble” will destroy the US economy… … and lead to a worldwide financial meltdown” He CALLS for this type of armagedon scenario. Hopes for it. He is sick and wrong. Bitter. A fraud and a mental midget. So far, no world wide financial melt-down. He also got the “50 million laid off workers” prediction way off (less unemployment now than the day he made the prediction).
The Arizona Republic has exposed this charliton recently, and listed his name. One of you even provided a picture. (thanks for the giggle, and the reminder.).
I knew him when he lived here, and remember that all he worried about each week was being seen in Scottsdale. I myself dont need to travel north from my student “loft” to be seen in Scottsdale because I am proud to reside there. Have for 11 years now. Love it here. All he did before he split was complain about this state.
I am going to give him a call and a piece of my mind. I hope he stays with the Limeys.
