Further Restricting the Rights of Law Abiding Citizens Will Not Prevent Another Incident Like Virginia Tech.

I have held off commenting on this until now.

What happened at Virginia Tech last Monday is a horrific tragedy and my heart goes out to the victims friends and families.

However, the left is gearing up to use the actions of this sick individual, whose name I will not use, to try to further restrict gun ownership and the rights of law abiding citizens to own and carry a handgun for their own personal protection.

When the melee started, the campus police and local authorities were unable to respond in time to prevent the carnage. The Supreme Court has ruled numerous times on the question of “police protection”. The police are not there to protect the citizenry. They are there to investigate crimes and apprehend criminals and they do it very well.

The uncomfortable truth the left refuses to deal with is the problem at Virginia Tech last Monday wasn’t because there were too many guns at the scene, there was at least one too few!

How different would this story be if the scum responsible for this had met up with one student or faculty member with a hand gun? How many people who died last Monday would be alive today if the scum responsible hadn’t been the only one armed?

He didn’t pay attention to the law forbidding him to carry those weapons onto campus and that is where the left just doesn’t get it. By definition, they are criminals and since they are criminals you don’t seriously think they are going to stop and think, “Hey, I can’t use this gun, it is against the law!”

You really should read the book More Guns, Less Crime by John Lott.

Some of the thirty-two people who died Monday morning, died because the left refuses to face facts.
